A pernambuco bow made in the Classique Model, gold mounted with ebony frog, 61.2 grams, made in 2019. Responsive and medium supple stick with great resistance, with smooth tone with strong resonance, high harmonic content and modulation.
 
Noel Burke began his bowmaking in 1989 under master bowmakers Charles Espey in Seattle, Washington and Paris, France, where he studied under Stephane Thomachot for two years.
 
The international accolades given to Noel’s work include six gold medals from the Violin Society of America, the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris for violin bow and the gold medal for cello bow at the Royal Northern College of Music Strad Cello Festival. Being invited to serve as a member of the jury at the RNCM Strad Cello and Bowmaking Competition is a further testament to Noel’s achievements and the excellence of his work. Noel has lived and worked in Italy (Cremona), France (Paris) and USA (Washington State). Noel now lives and works in Carlow, Ireland where he concentrates on new making and the teaching of bow making, many of whom have gone on to become award winning master bowmakers themselves. He lives and works in Ireland and today he is regarded as perhaps the finest living bowmaker.
