Violin making runs in my family - 60 years of violin making workshop
After studying painting and sculpture at the Münster Academy of Fine Arts, I took over my father's violin-making workshop. I have been self-employed for thirty years now. In addition to my father's knowledge, numerous workshops, including restoration with Georg Eitinger (Weisshaar) and especially the art of classical Italian violin making with Jürgen von Stietencron at Musica Riva on Lake Garda, have furthered my skills. My instruments are equally popular with professional musicians, music students, and amateurs.
Both their construction and varnish achieve a sound quality comparable to the ideals of the classical Italian masters. I always have entry-level instruments available for music students, combining sound quality with an affordable price. These are pre-made instruments that I refine by adjusting the soundboards and applying a traditional varnish. My diverse interests thus always include optimizing the sound of instruments that have been used extensively over many years and whose quality is brought back to its full potential through meticulous craftsmanship.
