A rare and fine 19th century German Violin Bow made by Johann Christian Süss. It is made on a Tourte model, with a rich and sonorous tone. 59.5 grams.
About Süss:
Johann Christian Süss (1829-1900) was one of the finest bow makers of the German school and was sometimes called the 'German Tourte. ' A pupil of Knopf in Dresden, he created models based on Tourte and Voirin. The sticks were stained dark red. Bows were sold under the brand: Weichold, Tourte, W.M. Hammig, as well as his own name in later years.
