About Gillet:
Louis Gillet (1891-1970) began his apprenticeship in Mirecourt before joining the workshops of Jérôme Thibouville Lamy. By the end of World War I, he had transitioned to the workshops of Marc Laberte, eventually establishing his own workshop in Nancy after 1924. Gillet's collaboration with Eugène Sartory commenced in 1934 and continued until Sartory's passing in 1946, significantly influencing Gillet's style. After Sartory's death, Gillet worked for Georges Dupuy, a Parisian maker and son-in-law of E. Sartory. Over the course of his life, Gillet's style evolved to become more elegant, particularly in his later years, when he crafted more ivory and tortoiseshell-gold mounted bows.
