A beautiful cello bow by Hélène Beaury-Duhaut made on the model of Jacob Eury. 81.3 grams
About Hélène:
After training as a tour guide and obtaining a master's
degree in arts mediation, Hélène met Gilles Duhaut, master
bow maker, in 2016, who offered her the opportunity to work with him in his workshop.
Following her career change, she set up her own business
in 2018 at the “Atelier Ecole Formation Archets”
workshop, created by Gilles DUHAUT, master bow
maker and trainer of many international students who
have won medals at international competitions (VSA)
following their training with Gilles. Hélène works alongside
trainees from Japan, Korea, the US, Italy, Germany, Spain, Denmark, and France.
Hélène began selling study bows of her own making to
students of François Rabbath (double bass player) in
the US and to the Menuhin School in England.
She assists Gilles in training at the workshop, providing educational and administrative support.
She also gives work instructions to the trainees. She speaks English, Spanish, and Italian, which facilitates communication with everyone, with a maximum of four trainees per year.
In recent years, Hélène has been working with professional musicians. On a daily basis, she makes bows for the quartet and double bass, and carries out minor repairs and rehairing of
bows for students at music schools and conservatories in the region (complete cleaning,
head plates, screw and nut replacement, leather or lizard thumb grips, silver wire binding).
Hélène leaves her bows on consignment to a luthier in Paris. She has traveled to the US in 2017, 2018, and
2024 for master classes with double bassists (students and professionals) and to Colombia to present and sell my work and repair the bows of musicians from the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra.
She takes part in exhibitions for bow makers and luthiers in May 2024 in Cologne (Germany) and
in September in Cremona (Italy), where she met professional musicians and foreign dealers.
This allowed Hélène to get her work listed in catalogs and make a name for herself.
In December 2024, she returned to Colombia to work with the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra,
and women's orchestra, for maintaining their bows.
In November 2024, Hélène received an award from the Chamber of Trades and Crafts for the manufacture of a cello bow based on an old model.
