Benvenuto Botturi studied with Diguini at Cremona and returned to Brescia in 1929, but he retired from violin making in 1941. He was prodigiously prolific during that time, producing 100 violins, several violas, and cellos, one quartet, and zoo bows, which were successfully exported throughout Europe and America. His fine work featured Stradivari models with red-brown oil varnish. He received several medals and awards, and a viola along with two violins was exhibited at Cremona in 1937.
