An Elegant pernambuco bow from an outstanding early 20th century maker named August Rau. He was trained by Pfretzschner and worked as one of the Nurnberger family's assistants for many years until he set out on his own after a successful early career with that workshop. Rau's personal and later work features the best of the Pfretzschner and Nurnberger workshops, this example of which is nickel silver mounted and stamped Aug Rau. 78 grams.
